"Sex, Drugs and Sideshow Alley is Ally’s wildly unconventional journey through childhood, family, love, passion, relationships, loss, motherhood, business, sex, drugs, creativity and the extraordinary people she meets.

Born in Australia but raised in New Zealand, Ally never sat quietly on the sidelines. From childhood adventures and teenage escapades to leaving home to see the world. Her life unfolds as a colourful tapestry of outrageous adventures, heartbreak, passion, love and laughter and moments of sheer disbelief as she stumbles through life, making lots of mistakes.

Along the way, she discovers an entrepreneurial spirit and a fascination with the unconventional. Starting as a Caterer, then Licensee of the roughest pub in Adelaide which became a band venue, meeting lots of musicians and performers. Later her creative work leads her into the adult-entertainment world, where she builds businesses, exhibits at Sexpo, creating provocative sculptures, explores alternative lifestyles. Works hard and plays hard.

Beneath the outrageous stories is something far more personal: a woman trying to understand herself, fit in, find connection, survive the difficult times and remain relatively sane and unapologetically herself. A woman carried along by circumstance, making regrettable decisions and paying for them with her liberty.

Told with wicked humour, refreshing honesty and absolutely no shortage of “you did WHAT?” moments, this is not a story about being perfect. Far from it! It is a story about being curious, resilient, adventurous and gloriously human.

So pour yourself a cuppa—or something stronger—and come along for the ride.

The memories are hers. The stories are true as far as she remembers. What you make of them is up to you."
